Adsorption of methylene blue from aqueous solution by biochar prepared from jackfruit peel: isotherm model studies

In this study, biochar derived from Jackfruit peel (JA) via the pyrolysis at 500 °C for 2 h was used as an adsorbent to remove Methylene Blue (MB) aqueous solution. Effects of pH, contact time, and initial MB concentration were investigated. Isotherm models, such Langmuir, Freundlich, Sips, Dubinin-Radushkevich, applied estimate adsorption in nature. The results indicated that Sips Freundlich models gave best fit with experimental datas. maximum capacity calculated Langmuir 39.87 mg/g 306K, pH = 11, time 60 min. E value evaluated Dubinin-Radushkevich smaller than 8 kJ/mol JA followed a physical process.
